As a resident on Woods rd. for 25+ years and a frequent user of the subject road I have many concerns
regarding traffic.
1. Traffic has increased markedly evidenced easily by the still flashing right turn signals. indicating the vehicles
came from Hwy 83.
2. Speed limits are regularly disregarded by most drivers especially between the hours of 7 to 9 am and 3 to 6 pm.
I have contacted County law enforcement on many occasions but have seen no indications of stepped up patrols
or speed traps.
3. I feel that the 45mph speed limit should be reduced to 35mph and rigidly enforced, that hopefully would
discourage some of the traffic law violators. To widen and straighten Saylesville road would only encourage more
speeding. Traffic from Hwy 83 should be shunted to Hwy 59. A no thru traffic posting at the junction of Hwy 83 and
Saylesville rd. would also help reduce traffic flow.

It is a simple fix. Slow traffic down and monitor it with the Sheriff department. If the speed limit went from 45 to 35
we all would appreciate it. The speeders that cut through would find an alternative way to commute. It's just
convincing the right people to make the change.

Hello,
We've been living on this road for about 4 years. The best time was when the bridge was out. I joked about
blowing up the new bridge. I live in the Klabunde's old house across from the two old barns just east of Point
Road. I have the abstracts going back to the later part of the 19th century. Lot of history here.

There are several Historic and original buildings located by the river. This is important. Because something as
simple as adding siding can make it not Historic.

Saylesville Road can barely handle the current traffic volume. The road is not safe with the posted speeds and
traffic volume. I think that all the posted speeds should be reduced by 10 or 15 mph. This would no longer make it
a shortcut and make Hwy. 59 a viable option. We all know that 59 will someday be a 4 lane road.

Being a cyclist, I wouldn't mind a bike lane. But I think reducing the speeds would make the road safe enough for
bikers. I have also heard that this a Historic Road, and subject to "improvements."

Just my $.02. I'm with you on this.

 Thanks,
Bill Poehlman
S.51 W. 28646 Saylesville Road,

I am a resident of the Saylesville area and believe that the proposed expansion of Hwy. 83 to a four lane highway
is unnecessary and the funneling of the increased traffic onto Saylesville Road is undesirable and a terrible plan
which has detrimental effects to  Saylesville and the entire area. The proposed changes to Hwy. 83 are short
sighted in that adequate roads already exist to handle the traffic in the area. The proposed changes to Hwy 83
are a waste of taxpayers' money and would make Saylesville Road into an unneeded highway.

At the present time, the speed limits on Saylesville Road are too high and even these speed limits are NOT
enforced adequately due to over-worked and understaffed law enforcement personnel.

We moved to this area five years ago for all the reasons the web site discusses.
We want it preserved as much as the heritage families who still reside in the area. A few questions and thoughts:
Will 83 be 4 lanes coming from the South or North?
In either case it probably should end at 59 to encourage use of that road. Saylesville Rd should have its speed
limit reduced to 35mph from Holiday Rd to the eastern sign that changes the limit to 55mph. Further a weight limit
should be placed on the entire road from 83 to where it meets 59; say 5 tons to allow delivery vehicle such as
UPS, Fed-ex etc.
Keep us informed.

I am not sure reducing the speed limit will work unless we have enforcement. I have complained to the police
about speeders, but they say that the lack of a shoulder is a safety issue, as stopped cars would extend onto the
road.
Putting stop signs at certain locations may not be good. Just another spot for someone to blow thru. Besides,
those living nearby would not want to hear cars screeching to a halt and then accelerating away (think Harley's or
dump trucks).
Maybe a weight limit on trucks would help. Even patrol cars being seen in the area would slow traffic down. My two
cents,
Regards,

You are right Tom, we as the residents are stuck between the county and the law enforcement.  They blame each
other.  The smartest/cheapest answer seems to be reduce the speed limit, increase some law enforcement
presence and direct trucks to the State Highway.  Unfortunately, it takes a community effort sometimes for
common sense to prevail.  Thank you again for your feedback.

We too have lived off of Saylesville Road for over 18 years.  During that time we have seen a lot of changes in the
area, namely population.  The speed on the road has not dropped at all.  You add all of these new people and a
high school you are going to get more traffic.

The speed on the road is way out of line, I wish someone would look at my phone records to see how many times I
have called 911in the years that we have been here.  There have been numerous injury accidents in the area,
some I have witnessed and it is all because of speed.  Us and our neighbors have had cars flip into our ditches
because of speed.  With more new Belinski development starting on Saylesville and also the reopening of the ATT
building you are having more employees and company vehicles coming and going down the road.

I feel that there should be a weight limit on the road, and the speed should be reduced.
We moved out to the
country for a reason.  We cannot stand the noise anymore.
The widening of Saylesville would require a lot of
buildings being torn down and a lot of history being demolished.  If you look at Hwy 59, how close are the houses
to the road, not very close.

Country Lane

My husband and I moved from Wauwatosa about 3 years ago.  We live off
of Country lane off of Salesville road.
We love it here, but have noticed
that the traffic on Salesville has gotten a lot louder. On many days; at
certain times; it sounds like we live off a freeway.  It was actually quieter
in the city.

I have thought from day one that the 55 mph speed limit on that stretch
is ridiculous.  I cannot imagine having my driveway off it!  It has been hard
enough slowing down to turn into our subdivision without maniac drivers
roaring up behind us.
For the safety of everyone, I would love to see the speed limit reduced to
at least 45 and a small shoulder added.
