Hi John,

A couple comments for you following the informational meeting.

1.  We were wondering how the traffic counts and projected counts were determined.  We are
assuming that the State did an actual count of the number of cars that actually exit on/off
STH83 to Saylesville Rd.  The daily average traffic numbers cited seem high for this
intersection -which is never backed up.  We realize that further up on Saylesville (closer to
STH 59 and CTH-H there is more traffic but that does not mean that they are all going to/from
83).  Where were the counters located?  What time of year was this done?

2.  About the roundabout.  Further North perhaps by Holiday Rd. or Walnut makes much more
sense for a roundabout as that area is more residential
(entering Genesee is a good
place to have a traffic calming option)
. It is also an area that will too have further
developments on the west side of 83.  Maybe the "future developer" can pay for a frontage
road if need be (they make them do these type of things in other states).
How about going from 4 lanes to 2 at that point.  Keep the majority of traffic moving smoothly
on 83 until it would need to slow down at Genesee anyways.

CTHI and CTHX don't appear to be in need of traffic signals or a roundabout at this point
because just widening to four lanes, adding turn lanes and a median should adequately
improve safety/function without affecting traffic flow on STH83.

Diverting traffic to Saylesville Rd. seems like a temporary "fix" for through-traffic (with negative
consequences to a historic, agricultural, recreational and growing residential community).
Would you want live, ride your bike or have your kids cross a road where the traffic and trucks
are going approx. 50-55mph?STH59 (and all of 83) will be widened eventually and the State
DOT should plan for that now.

Planning for the widening of 59 now may offer further solutions to other North-South corridor
planning challenges...perhaps a new by-pass off of 59 at around
Townline would solve the TT/Waukesha bypass dilemma too?

3.  Our main concerns are speeders/safety, trucking, and the potential "need" to widen
Saylesville Rd. in the interest of short-cut-through-traffic numbers only when there is a very
nearby State HWY system in place already.

Thank you for requesting our comments.   We appreciate the WISDOT's effort to address
traffic needs for the future while respecting the character and safety of existing communities.
